Effects Of Storytelling On EFL Elementary Adult Learners' Vocabulary Knowledge At An English Center In Ho Chi Minh City​

Vocabulary knowledge is one of the most fundamental components in language learning; however, Vietnamese adult learners have still confronted with difficulties in acquiring lexical form, meaning and use, and teachers have found it hard to select effective and interesting lexical teaching strategies. Meanwhile, storytelling entails factors which are, potentially, conducive to learners’ vocabulary acquisition. Hence, the researcher was motivated to explore the effects of storytelling on EFL elementary adult learners’ vocabulary knowledge and their attitudes towards learning lexis with this teaching strategy in class. The study was conducted with 53 EFL elementary adult learners in a language center in Ho Chi Minh City with the quantitative and qualitative approaches.
