Exploring Teachers Use Of Humor In EFL Classroom Communication: A Case Study In An Urban Language Center In Ho Chi Minh CityHumor has been proved to be a great plus in teaching and interacting with the students. In language teaching and learning literature, several studies have reported the positive link between the use of humor and academic achievements as well as humor and students’ motivation and attention. Given the multiple benefits of humor, this study aims to explore teachers’ intentional humor in EFL classroom communication. The study employed a qualitative case study design to gain more insights into teachers’ humor practice vis-à-vis the totality of classroom spaces. Aside from the extent to which teachers used humor, it also looked into teachers and students’ perceptions of the humor use. The research was conducted at a private English center in Vietnam, utilizing observation, semi-structured interview, and focus group interview to collect data.
