    Enhancing Students' Engagement In Learning To Speak English Through Storytelling
    This qualitative study investigated the impact of storytelling on English language learners' (ELLs) speaking proficiency and engagement in a Vietnamese context. The research employed classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and analysis of student work samples to gather data over a twelve-week period from 45 students and 5 teachers at Pencil English Center in Nghe An province, Vietnam. Findings revealed that storytelling significantly enhanced students' speaking proficiency, particularly in vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, fluency, and coherence. Moreover, storytelling fostered a positive and engaging learning environment, boosting students' confidence and motivation. While challenges such as comprehension difficulties and shyness were noted, teachers effectively addressed these through scaffolding, differentiation, and a supportive classroom atmosphere. This study underscores the transformative potential of storytelling in English language teaching, advocating for a learner-centered approach that prioritizes communication, creativity, and collaboration.
