    Factors Affecting EFL High School Students’ Speaking Performance - A Case Study At Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School
    English has been viewed as an important foreign language, especially for the Vietamese young generation. Speaking is one of the most important skills of all the four language skills and giving learners the ability use English language effectively and correctly in communication. This study is an attempt to investigate the factors influence on EFL high school students’ speaking performance in Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School. The main purposes of the study are to investigate some internal factors and some external factors affecting students’ English speaking and to give some suggestions for the teachers to stimulate students in speaking English. A mixed research method was used in this study. The data was collected from speaking test, a questionnaire and individual interviews, and observation conducted among 149 students at Nghe An Ethnic high schools in Vinh city. The findings showed that four factors affecting the students’ speaking performance were linguistics factors, affective factors, learning environment, and role of teachers. In addition, the results revealed that there was a positive correlation between these four factors and the students’ speaking test score.
