Research On The Role Of Learner Autonomy In The English Language Learning Process Of 10th Grade Students​

Learner autonomy plays a particularly important role in the process of learning English. Recognizing the necessity of learner autonomy, this study was conducted in an attempt to investigate the role of learner autonomy for 10th grade students. The study involved 100 grade10 students of a high school in Nghe An province. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative research, the study conducted a survey and semi-interviews with participants. Research results showed that learner autonomy had a positive impact on students' English learning achievement, enhancing their confidence, as well as improving important skills in their English learning process. At the same time, it was also found that the solutions proposed by students to foster their learner autonomy were also diverse, for both teachers and students. This research brought important contributions to improving the quality of English teaching and learning in high schools. It not only provided practical solutions but also opened up further research directions to continue to explore and improve learner autonomy in many different contexts.
