Shadowing As A Technique To Improve EFL Young Learners' Fluency In Reading And Speaking​

Shadowing has been said to be one of the very effective practical methods to improve EFL speaking ability. However, research on this topic has not focused on the impacts of this technique on other skills, such as reading and listening. This study aimed to explore the effect, if there is any, of shadowing on EFL learners’ reading and speaking abilities. During the experiment, the treatment group did shadowing activities. A pre-test and posttest were utilized to measure the learners’ reading and speaking. It was found that the treatment group outperformed the control group. The findings have highlighted the effectiveness of the shadowing technique in English language teaching.
