The Effects Of Board Games On EFL Primary School Students’ Speaking Performance​

Recently, there has been growing interest in utilizing board games as a creative teaching technique to foster EFL learners’ speaking ability. The purpose of this project is to examine the effects of board games on EFL learners’ speaking performances and their attitudes toward board games. Two intact classes at a primary school in Vinh City were randomly assigned to the treatment group and control group. The data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests as well as observation checklists. The results have indicated that the treatment group outperformed the control group in speaking performance and showed positive attitudes during the treatment lessons. Hence, it is recommended that educators diversify a variety of board game activities to engage students effectively and create a supportive learning environment for the sake of students’speaking performance.
