    The Effects Of Visual Techniques In Vocabulary Instruction On EFL Learners’ Vocabulary Retention
    Abundant prior research into the effectiveness of different instructional techniques on EFL learners’ vocabulary retention was conducted. The current threephase action research employed different vocabulary tests to examine the impact of using visual techniques by means of digital photos in vocabulary instruction on EFL learners’ vocabulary retention. The counterbalanced designed was applied; 40 ninth graders experienced two different conditions: one non-visual-aided and one visualaided vocabulary instruction at a public secondary school in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam. They completed one pre-questionnaire prior to the course and one pretest at the beginning of each stage. At the end of each treatment, one delayed posttest was administered. After the semester, one post-questionnaire was given to gather students’ evaluation of the teacher’s instructional techniques. Classroom observations also helped the teacher researcher reflect on the instructions.
