Using Dictogloss Technique To Improve 11th Graders’ English Listening Comprehension Skill At A High School​

This project, which was carried out to reveal how dictogloss improves students' listening skill, was designed as experimental research. For 12 weeks, 63 non-major English students who were in grade 11 at high school for gifted students of Vinh university participated this project. According to experimental research method, the experimental class was taught with dictogloss, while the other class serving as control group was not treated with dictogloss technique. Data from students' pre-test, posttest, reconstruction notes, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews were gathered to answer research questions about their development of English listening comprehension skills and how they responded to this new technique. The analysis of the data reveals significant improvements in pupils' listening comprehension abilities. Dictogloss makes a considerable contribution to boosting pupils' confidence and enhancing learning spirits and the majority of pupils responded positively to this strategy. In the meantime, this project can provide educators with an effective approach to teaching English listening skill as well as energizing the class atmosphere.
