    Using Funny Stories To Improve 11th Efl Graders' Vocabulary Retention
    The study was an effort to examine the effect of employing funny stories on vocabulary retention of 11th EFL learners at Phan Dang Luu high school. With a view to fulfilling the purpose of the thesis, the author used a mixture of qualitative and quantitative research approaches, which include document analysis and survey, questionnaires. Eighty intermediate 11th EFL learners in two intact classes were divided into two groups of experimental and control groups with 40 participants assigned to the experimental group and 40 participants assigned to the control group. The treatment consisted of 6 sessions of Language lesson in Tieng Anh 11 of Viet Nam Education Publishing House. The experimental group received vocabulary instruction by using funny stories. In each session twenty minutes were devoted to vocabulary instruction. The control group enjoyed the traditional techniques of vocabulary teaching including visual techniques and verbal techniques which were common in Vietnamese EFL contexts. The duration was also 6 sessions and twenty minutes were devoted to vocabulary instruction.
