Using Games To Improve Efl 5th Grader’s Listening Skills​

This study explored the effectiveness of using games to improve listening skills among Grade 5 students at Ha Tinh iSchool. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved 60 students divided into a control and an experimental group. The experimental group participated in listening lessons incorporating educational games, while the control group received traditional instruction. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, questionnaires, and interviews to document the changes in listening skills and students' attitudes towards game-based learning. The findings indicate that students in the experimental group demonstrated significant improvement in their listening skills compared to the control group. Additionally, the use of games increased the students’ engagement and motivation, contributing to a more positive learning experience. However, limitations such as the study's short duration, small sample size, and reliance on self-reported data were noted.
