Using Language Games To Help 4th Grade Students Improve Their English Speaking Skills​

Since English has become more and more significant in Vietnam in recent years, it is taught as a required subject in Vietnamese primary schools. The way English is taught and learned has evolved significantly in the past few years. Speaking instruction in particular and English instruction in general are still lacking, nevertheless. For the majority of teachers in Vietnam today, the subject of how to get their students excited about speaking is one that is extremely important. That is exactly the question that drove me to investigate how language games may be used in warm-up exercises to get fifth graders excited about speaking during speaking time. My project is being completed in accordance with the following procedure: Firstly, there are a variety of speaking dynamics and language games available. Following that, students were given a survey form to investigate whether or not playing games during English speaking courses is necessary. Additionally, in order to gather information regarding the usage of language games in activities, teacher interviews were undertaken. To further understand the real application of language games in the classroom, the author also watched a few speaking courses. We have derived some recommendations from these techniques to aid in speaking acquisition more successfully. I hope that anyone interested in using activities to encourage students to speak more would find value in this initiative of mine.
