    Using Task-Based Learning Activities To Improve Speaking Skills Of 8th Graders
    This study was conducted with the aims of assessing whether the implementation of Task-Based Learning (TBL) enhances the speaking skills of 8 th graders and evaluating the impact of TBL on students’ motivation to learn English. This study applied a mixed methods research approach, involving the collection of both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was collected through a pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. Moreover, qualitative data was collected through two classroom observations. The sample consisted of 29 eighth-grade students who were studying at Pogo Education, an English language center. The students were divided into two groups: experimental, who studied with TBL, and control, who continued studying with traditional methods. The findings showed that TBL was helpful in improving the students’ speaking skills. Specifically, it was effective in enhancing their vocabulary and interactive communication abilities, but less effective in improving their grammar and pronunciation. Concerning their motivation levels, it was found that the students had overall high levels of motivation, especially in terms of intrinsic motivation and external regulation. Numerous instances of highmotivation were observed, notably during interpersonal, creative, and linguistic tasks. These findings led to implications for English teachers and curriculum developers. However, there were certain limitations in this study, such as the small sample size, duration of the intervention, and a lack of qualitative insights.
